-I have a friend; we met at seven years olds, went through school together, faced all kinds of problems and were as close as siblings. We saw each other through our divorces; we were godparents to each other's children. Then after a bad time in her life she joined the born again Christians, within a week they had convinced her that I was the devil, was trying to take her from God and drag her to hell, and that she could never be happy if I were a part of her life and that they were her only friends. I warned her that when the chips were down they would desert her; she called me a liar and a fool. I heard nothing from her for two and a half years, then a little while ago she got in touch, during an operation to remove a cataract from her eye, it was discovered that she had a brain aneurysm. It has been caught early and she should be fine after a minor operation. She went to her church terrified and asked for help, they offered "thoughts and prayers", she asked for support and a lift to hospital they offered "thoughts and prayers", she asked that someone dog sit her pets and come visit her in hospital, every one was busy but "thoughts and prayers". I spent the day with her, comforted her, accompanied her to see her surgeon for reassurance and bought her a coffee. She is fine and ready for the operation at the end of the month. It cost me a couple of hours and the price of a Starbuck's. MY friend is back and is free of those parasites, according to who, god sent me to her in her time of need, but who she must now reject again since I have not taken the "Obvious" call to salvation her illness offered me. Even she was disgusted by this and is seriously listening to why I am an atheist and why she might want to re-evaluate her church.

You are basically posing a moral dilemma given a no win situation do you chose a lesser over a greater evil, do you become a murderer by intent, or a mass murderer by inaction. Between my marriages I went a bit wild, got involved with a very adventurous lady and did a lot of things I never previously thought I would. It a movie genre, and all movie's present a fantastic and overblown, exaggerated version of a story meant to evoke an unrealistic reaction, that's the fun. I did have an odd experience like this, through a writers group I was involved in I met and communicated with a lady in the USA for a number of years. Because I am partially dyslexic she offered to proof read some of my stories and correct them for me. After a time she began discussing online a number of Issues with erotic scenes in my writing, these discussion became very detailed and deeply explored the nature of erotica. She spent time making suggestions, editing and helping me better understand the way women read romantic and erotic fiction. on night she became flustered and finally she admitted she was using these discussions to pleasure herself. It is pretty much a catch all platitude Is god being invoked to bless the continent? Is the speaker simply hoping god will bless the American people, as many say god bless as a salutation? Is it an insistence that a god bless America as opposed to anything else blessing it, the devil for example? Or an instruction to god to bless America as opposed to the UK, France or god forbid Russia? Or is it just the political speakers Amen, so we know they have finished waffling and we should all applaud now like performing seals on steroids? Who can say?

I have no time for Charlatans like Theresa Caputo, John Edwards, the Warrens and the like, scamming money out of the bereaved and desperate. I am reminded how Dixie Yeterian managed not to foresee how she was going to get herself shot by gangsters who believed her fake psychic detective act to such an extent that they saw her as a genuine threat.
