@Boogey We have one trial going on right now, and they just convicted another one. glennlab replies on Sep 17, 2018:
They are toxic depending on the season and the part of the plant ingested. The highest concentrations are in the seeds, they are part of the night shade family high in atropine, and hallucinogenics so overdosing has occurred more as other hallucinogens became harder to get. Early settlers had a tough time when their animals would eat them and start hallucinating along with added strength and stamina. This plant was blamed when many a cowboy or prospector lost their animal since it was normally the only green thing to eat. Handling the plants generally don't require any special requirements unless you are processing them. Care should be taken around children and animals which take much smaller doses for poisoning.

Lovely!!!! I also let my plants become catterpillar food. Passion vine is on my list for garden addition. I heard that tea made from the leaf is good for arthritis. My garden attracts butterflies, hummingbirds and tons of bees. Unfortunately, wasps have a thing for my house too. ?
glennlab replies on Sep 17, 2018:
The wasps feed off the caterpillars, they are a part of the food chain. I normally just knock down the nests when they are in a bad spot, near the house or pathways I travel. As long as they are not in an area where I will get stung, I let them be. The butterflies and caterpillars are very sensitive to poisons, so unless the nest is in a bad place, has gotten too big to safely knock down, or the little bastards sting me, no poisons. I have tried the tea, it has a really "planty" taste. I'd be happy to send you leaves to try or plants if you want to grow it. PM me for details.

Thanks for posting about the Moonflower, sounds cool.
glennlab replies on Sep 15, 2018:
They are a warm weather plant, in Dallas I start getting blooms in early May with the last ones finally giving up at first major frost. here they are perennial, but they grow well from seeds. Once established they will respond to TLC or total neglect. Many more blooms with TLC.
I will have moonflower seeds shortly.
sweetcharlotte comments on Sep 15, 2018:
I remember you telling me the moonflower will only grow in sandy soil and hot weather. That's definitely not NC. I do love the looks of the flower.
glennlab replies on Sep 15, 2018:
They will do well as pot plants too, just not as well.

@Hathacat I have a couple of friends that do T-shirts and I still maintain my retail permit (sales Tax), so I end up helping with the shirts from time to time as well as running off the transfers on my printers. There is more stealing in the T-shirt business than meme stealing.
