glennlab replies on Dec 24, 2020:
I belive they came out of the 60s as part of the renewed interest in social welfare. Prior to the new deal, there were no crop supports or crop insurance. The market stability of the 40s and 50s and the lack of WW II distruction in the US meant that US farmers were out producing the needs of the US. Agriculure represented the largest sector of the economy and to keep it running the USDA stepped in to act as a purchaser of last resort. When its warehouses were full and farmers were dumping 1000s of gallons of milk perday down the drain because it cost more to process it than the wholesale price. THe program first supplied institutions, but that barely dented the supplies, that is when they went whole hog and started shipping directly to communities that made the last mile deliveries. They either went to an existing local gov't facility or rented space with people picking up their allotment with a USDA coupon. short answer no.
Based on the responses I got, I should have posted this here.

Jeffrey Rosen, Barr's Replacement As A.
DenoPenno comments on Dec 16, 2020:
With a month to go why would Barr even need to be replaced? This is a serious question.

Continuity of Government. Anytime a higher up is removed for any reason, someone has to fill that job. Every agency has a line of succession, he is not being nominated to take the spot, he is merely moving up one place.

@azzow2 Moose do not have a white rump, In all my years in the northwest I only hear it in reference to elk and from Miriam Webster Definition of wapiti : elk sense 1b Before the East was logged, tamed and farmed … it, too, was the home of a creature the color of wheat that the Shawnee called wapiti, and which the European settlers named elk.— Scott Weidensaul Moose are called elk in Europe, But the wapiti are the large antler deer, elk. and from Nat Geo Elk are also called wapiti, a Native American word that means “light-colored deer.” Elk are related to deer but are much larger than most of their relatives. A bull (male) elk's antlers may reach 4 feet above its head, so that the animal towers 9 feet tall.

I love this song. But, I find it odd that it is taken to be religious. Yes, it uses the language of religion, but it is about erotic love, sex, longing and heartbreak.
glennlab replies on Dec 16, 2020:
From a Rolling stone article: Cohen’s song begins with an image of the Bible’s musically identified King David, recounting the heroic harpist’s “secret chord,” with its special spiritual power (“And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took a harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him” – 1 Samuel 16:23). It was his musicianship that first earned David a spot in the royal court, the first step toward his rise to power and uniting the Jewish people. full article https://www.rollingstone.com/feature/how-leonard-cohens-hallelujah-brilliantly-mingled-sex-religion-194516/

Considering that trump, did not respect the military, sought to cut veteran benefits in every budget and tried to use active duty troops to attack US citizens on US soil, I'm surprised that he was able to get 20%.

@azzow2 The author of this opinion piece is a libertaian right wing biased writer. His facts are incorrect in some instances so his opinions are suspect. I will give Biden a chance to perform without speculating on his actions. Since the begining of the cold war there have always been 20-30 places in the world where war could break out at any time.
