I had a bad experience with a male OB/GYN after the birth of my youngest by c-section, I had some complications that he ignored. I swore I'd never have another male doctor. I had a male PA that I saw a couple of times but not for anything female related, he was sweet and very heavy. But since then I have seen only women. I will grant you that women are not always kind or competent either, BUT at least they have some insight as to what it means to have the plumbing. I am so sorry you've had such a hard time.

caravel noun a small Spanish or Portuguese sailing vessel of the Middle Ages and later, ...
HippieChick58 comments on Feb 11, 2023:
Fascinating! From Wiki: The caravel (Portuguese: caravela, IPA: [kɐɾɐˈvɛlɐ]) is a small maneuverable sailing ship used in the 15th century by the Portuguese to explore along the West African coast and into the Atlantic Ocean. The lateen sails gave it speed and the capacity for sailing windward (beating). Caravels were used by the Portuguese and Castilians for the oceanic exploration voyages during the 15th and 16th centuries, during the Age of Discovery. Etymology Its English name derives from the Portuguese caravela, which in turn may derive from the Latin carabus or κάραβος in Greek, perhaps indicating some continuity of its carvel build through the ages. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caravel

In medias res adverb in the middle of things.
HippieChick58 comments on Feb 7, 2023:
From Britannica: in medias res, (Latin: “in the midst of things”) the practice of beginning an epic or other narrative by plunging into a crucial situation that is part of a related chain of events; the situation is an extension of previous events and will be developed in later action. The narrative then goes directly forward, and exposition of earlier events is supplied by flashbacks. The principle of in medias res is based on the practice of Homer in the Iliad and the Odyssey. The Iliad, for example, begins dramatically with the quarrel between Achilles and Agamemnon during the Trojan War. In his Ars poetica, the Latin poet and critic Horace pointed out the immediate interest created by this opening in contrast to beginning the story ab ovo (“from the egg”)—i.e., from the birth of Achilles, which is the story’s earliest chronological point. Though its roots are in ancient epic poems, in medias res can be found today across numerous fiction and nonfiction narrative forms.
