My grandmother and mom made lots of jello salads. We ate lots of sugar as kids, geeze. Anyway I remember cherry or any red jello with applesauce. I also remember lemon jello with celery and carrots. Another was jello with fruit cocktail and mini marshmallows. I haven't had jello in years, again way too much sugar. i'm amazed we didn't have Diabetes by age 15.

First, what kind of shape is your grandmother in? Has she been ill for a long time? Is she likely to get better and have a good life? I don't want to live with tubes, medications and restrictions. When I can't do the things I enjoy I want to leave this world peacefully. Death is part of life. It means the end of suffering. No one lives forever, and I don't think many want to live forever. Yes, you will grieve when your grandmother passes, that is normal. But remember, she lived a good long time and it is her time to pass on. You will miss her, but keep the love that she had for you, all the good memories. Take this chance to tell her how much you love her. Also, if you have good relationships with your family, let them know how much you love and appreciate them. At times like this we need to hold close those we love most.

I have 3 partnered adult children within 30 miles of where I live. If I get sick I can text any or all of them and tell them I need help and it will be there. Usually I have one of them checking in with me about midweek as it is.

I think there are many types of intelligence. Some folks can read books and spout use the information. Some people can read people/situations and react to that information. I think the term "genius" is essentially meaningless. What good is it if you know everything but cannot communicate, or communicate in such a way to offend people. My ex is very smart, and condescending as hell. He may have the answer but he was so offensive to listen to that you didn't care.

There is some amazing advice here, we are such a great community. I'd like to add this: I have 3 daughters, and the middle one and I nearly killed each other. She pushed every boundary and limit. She snuck out of the house at night, she drank, she smoked. She dyed her hair with koolade. She's a blonde, red koolade, not a good look. She knew your hot buttons within minutes of meeting you, and she'd push them. She got busted at school for Dramamine, and kicked out for the rest of the semester. Best thing that ever happened to us. I was a SAHM (Stay at Home Mom) so I was home with her. I made her quit smoking cold turkey. She could not leave the house without me. She enrolled in a home schol program. And a friend put us in touch with a Caregiver Night Out program and I dragged her into that. Volunteers did projects with individuals with disabilities. She tried every bargaining chip she had, and I still made her go. When I picked her up after she was so thrilled!! She had the best time, and she just bloomed. That was a turning point in her life. She kept volunteering even when she got her license. She still had "adventures." but she grew up so much with that experience. I think it is such a wonderful thing to expose your teens to people who are disadvantaged or different from what they are. She's 30 now, and an amazing young woman.

My golden was a leaner, and to bathe him I'd have to get into the shower with him, which meant we both got showers. He was not pleased with it, but he was well trained and would do as I directed. His body language said it all, he was not happy with the situation. However, after the shower he was the big goofball I loved, he just smelled better.
