After I was in the Army I was visiting my grandparent. (I was a soldier, I swore like a sailor, or a solider, same difference.) And one day my guard was down, and I said something that could have been deleted. I thought we were going to have to call the rescue squad for my Grammie. She was laughing so hard! Thank goodness she laughed. But her sons and husband worked in construction and had been in the military as well, she just didn't normally hear it from the girls.

Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris - is on fire.
HippieChick58 comments on Apr 15, 2019:
I was in Paris just before I met my ex, so OMG so very long ago. 37 years ago. I was stationed in Germany, it was a not terribly long train ride away. Notre Dame is beautiful, breathtaking, and so much history. I texted with my kids about this earlier, the middle daughter and I asked the same question. Where is Quasimodo going to live now?
If you have a wonderful partner......🤗😘

How was your weekend?
HippieChick58 comments on Apr 15, 2019:
I went to my grandson's first birthday party, always good to have family time. Then I went to Omaha Earth Day activities. I worked on the booth for our Humanist group, we gave away lots of literature and buttons. However, it was chilly, and sometimes cold. I was exhausted when I got home.

My daughter and I had the same reaction. Where is Quasimodo going to live now? This really is sad, I have been to Notre Dame. It is beautiful, and so much history.
I'm just turning 65 today. What's your relationship to that number and age?
HippieChick58 comments on Apr 15, 2019:
I'm 61, single for about 10 years. I wish I could really retire, I did take 6 months off from last September to March this year. I loved being off, but insurance is expensive and the income I have was just not going to stretch far enough. I think one of the thing I've seen with SOME guys this age is they're thinking of end of life needs, and they need a nurse with a purse. My reaction is no thanks.

How long into dating someone, do you wait to ask their religious preference?
HippieChick58 comments on Apr 15, 2019:
That is a conversation I'm going to be having before I start dating someone. It is going to be in the initial phase where we're trying to figure out if we really want to go out with each other. I was in a matching service a few years ago, we sort of had blind dates where we actually met at a restaurant that was set up by the service. Worst date of all of them was a guy who spent several nights a week at his church... Why he thought he wanted to date I have no idea. That is not a good memory :(
Hahaha... I just hit level 8. I thought that would never happen when I hit level 7. Who knew?!
HippieChick58 comments on Apr 15, 2019:
Congratulations!! Now dig in because 9 is a long slog. I just enjoy being here, I'd be doing my thing no matter what my level. Levels come when they will. And when you get your shirt, be sure to get a good picture and wear that with pride!
Well this sucks.
HippieChick58 comments on Apr 15, 2019:
A. I'm so sorry to hear that, I hope you're OK. I hope the other driver is at fault, and I hope you both have good insurance. And that the damage isn't too horrific. B. Take a hot bath with Epsom salts if you have it. That will help soothe the aches and pains. Take time to pamper yourself and rest. Be gentle with yourself for the next few days. You've had a trauma no matter how small it is. You will be shaken up for a few days. Hope you heal and recover quickly.

According to statistics, the average person over 18 consumes 3 alcoholic drinks a week.
HippieChick58 comments on Apr 14, 2019:
I am so below average. Waaaayyyy back when, I dated an alcoholic. If he bought a six pack of beer, he drank it all when he got home. Not one tonight, one in a few days and two on Friday night. He ended up getting a DUI and kicked out of the Army (that is how long ago it was, I got out of the Army in 1983.) So, anytime I see signs of alcoholism it is a HUGE ref flag. So yes, drinking habits will affect how I feel about someone I'm dating. And right now I don't drink on dates. I have made too many bad decisions under the influence of alcohol, and now it makes me sleepy. I'm not the life of the party any longer.

When did your vegan\vegetarian journey begin? What made you make that change?
HippieChick58 comments on Apr 14, 2019:
I have always done a meatless day where I'd cook dinner with the family with no meat or animal products. One of my kids went vegetarian when she was a teen (she's now 31 and eats anything except pork.) Mostly that was just for variety in our diet. At that time the common wisdom was to combine proteins (different foods with different components that make complete proteins, thank goodness we now know that isn't necessary.) I've always been interested in nutrition and cooking. And then post divorce and unemployed I got into eating cheap and nutritious. I was also into DIY and recycling/reduce/reuse. That led into information on how wasteful, inhumane and harmful for the planet that commercial farming practices are. So, trying to avoid becoming diabetic, and still wanting to eat cheap and healthy, I usually eat vegetarian. Some weeks I do go so far as vegan. And some weeks I am a total omnivore. For the most part I eat vegetarian. Due to some changes I am no longer pre-diabetic and healthier than I've been in several years.
So I’ve been super excited because I finally got a really good job in a city I wanted to move to 2...

His English is good, however I'm sure I have read it before. His responses though limited are good English. Claims to be from Rowlett, TX, but travels the world. In his profile picture he is sitting at a desk in front of a wall that ways Ahiska Turkish American Council. I don't get how that fits with corrosion expert. He is quite swarthy, so maybe Turkish. I started a new job 5 weeks ago, I have been lax in my meditation practice, but I know I feel less anxiety when I do meditate. There is nothing religious about it, though when I was a practicing xian I did some meditation then. I don't consider it a religious practice. I use an app called Calm. It is good stuff.
