What does it mean when someone says 'I don't want a commitment'?
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 3, 2018:
It means you're OK (in their mind) but you're probably not "the one" and they want to be able to look around some more.
What's in your garden?
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 3, 2018:
I am so excited to see green things starting to appear in my yard. Every summer for the past 3 or 4 years I have grown tomatoes. There is nothing so sublime as a tomato fresh off the vine. They taste like sunshine.
OK.

What dating sites have you tried and did you make any relationships or friendships from it?
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 3, 2018:
I have been on Mingle, POF, OKC, Elite Singles, Zoosk, EHarmony, and Match. I don't like paying money. I have tried a few local sites that cost dearly and did not get any better results. I've had one friend come out of it, or one person who still has my number who I haven't blocked.
I keep hearing that praying is a wonderful thing.
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 3, 2018:
I remember being told that prayer doens't necessarily change things, but that prayer changes you. And I quickly disproved that be praying that god would change my heart and make me content with my now ex husband. Never let it be said I didn't try. I've also heard that prayer is not unlike mediatation which is very healthy and relaxing. I just skip the prayer part and go directly to meditation. And I'm pretty sure those blathering about thoughts and prayers are neihter thinking or praying. I'm positive they're not thinking, I don't care if they are praying.

Would you want to know at a very early age when you would die?
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 3, 2018:
I've always felt like you should live as if it were your last day, because how do you know it won't be? There are no gurarantees. If I die today I have no unfinished business of any real consequence. Those that are important to me know I love them. My manager is goign to miss me, as will the team because we're short handed as it is. I just hope someone misses me in time for the kids to come in a rescue the kitties. So, no, I don't want to know when I am going to die. Whenever it comes, I'm as ready as I'm going to be.

When I was MOB (mother of the bride) I went to church, I even read scripture. I let them know that I will not have them tell me they are praying for me or otherwise trying to convert me.

"Never ask a woman her age" and other stupid rules. Who comes up with this nonsense?
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 3, 2018:
Some women get uptight about their age. Not me, I freakin feel every year and I own it proudly. Of course my view is skewed a tad, my mom died at 45, and I am thrilled to have lived past that. Now the rule of not asking a woman if she is pregnant unless you are seeing the baby exit her body is a good rule. Trust me on that one. Stupid gender rules that annoy me. 1. Boys will be boys. No, any child will act like a little shit if they have not been raised right. 2. Men/boys should not show emotion. That is so hugely unhealthy for so many young men. 3. Men should man up or grow a pair. That goes with above. And really you want tough. Balls are delicate and tender. A vagina can take a pounding AND push a baby out. How totally tough and awesome is that! 4. Here is a tough one, insults to women are that they are bitches, witches, frigid, ugly, etc. Insults to men is that they are a son of a bitch which insults his mother, or that he is a bastard which again insults his mother. 5. That my clothing could 'distract' a male or makes a man want to rape/hurt me. Seriously, No. Again, we need to teach men/boys better. 6. I was told to dumb down to attract a boyfriend. I could go on but I do have a life, or want to pretend so anyway.

HippieChick58 comments on Mar 3, 2018:
I try to keep my language pretty clean because I am on the phone a good deal of the day and don't need anyone tattling to my manager about my potty mouth. And I have a granddaughter that will start talking soon. I use Jeebus Christopher and OMG frequently. I haven't told anyone to go to hell in many years and my response when told to go there is that I've already been there and got kicked out. I can be creative, succinct, and close to rude without being vulgar. I like to be creative rather than vulgar. I am not sure soul is an entirely religous construct. From Wikipedia: Greek philosophers, such as Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle, understood that the soul must have a logical faculty, the exercise of which was the most divine of human actions. At his defense trial, Socrates even summarized his teaching as nothing other than an exhortation for his fellow Athenians to excel in matters of the psyche since all bodily goods are dependent on such excellence. Would you prefer psychemate? With my luck I'll find a psychomate and we will be infamous.

HippieChick58 comments on Mar 3, 2018:
I work in disability claims, I've had a few claimants in the gender transformation process. I try to be sensitive to their wishes, but when I have a traditionally female name on my form I'm going to use an appropriate pronoun. And I do appologize when I mess up, and so far everyone has been cool with it. My real frustration is with doctors who try to hedge around what procedures were done. If you performed a mastectomy say that. Chest alignment surgery doesn't tell me squat. You created a vagina, that one is harder, but tell me that and I will figure out how to code it. When I grew up you were either male or female. I know there are variations, but this is one area I really need patience and maybe some hand holding. I don't think I'm making judgements, but I don't want to navigate a mine field either. And frankly there are details I'd really rather not know, just tell me what I need to know that is PG13.
Question for the Cat Slaves here. Are your cats declawed? If not, do you trim their claws?
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 3, 2018:
My ginger tabby is the first cat I've had that is not declawed. The new baby is also not declawed. They do not go outside, though the baby wants to. This morning I wrestled both of them down to trim their claws. I try to do it every other week, and in the evening. I've been negligent, and they've been rather destructive. This morning seemed like the best time to do it, but they were squirmier and full of energy. In the evenings they seem to be more relaxed and calmer (more tired) The robovac was also running this morning which I'm sure also added to their stress. Lessons learned for next time. They're over it now, had their breakfasts and taking their morning naps.

I've already moved 23 times, I really don't want to move again. Courtesy of the military I've lived in Europe and Japan, and all over the US. I could move again, but I'm pretty vested in being near the grandbabies as my kids rarely lived near grandparents. I could get a job almost anywhere but really I'm 60, I don't wanna change if I don't have to.

What are 5 useless facts about you?
HippieChick58 comments on Feb 28, 2018:
1. I am the 4th out of six children, first daughter. It was like the folks had a family of boys then a family of girls. 2. Of my 5 siblings, one has been married to the same person for over 30 years, one is a felon, one is a deadbeat dad and we have no idea where he is. One is a disabled vet, one is junkyard dog mean, and then there's me. 3. I make my own toothpaste (yes, mine has charcoal in it) and make my own deodorant, soap, lip balm, and other personal care items. 4. I cannot give blood in the US and haven't been able to for over 25 years. I lived in Germany in the 80s, and ate German cooked foods. I could be a carrier of Cruezfeldt Jakob disease, an acute spongiform encephalopahty. IOW mad cow. The baby I gave birth to in Germany CAN give blood in the US. Not fair. And if it is going to affect me it is going to start any time now. 5. My dad's baby brother married my mom's baby sister. So I had a double aunt and uncle and 2 double cousins.

HippieChick58 comments on Feb 28, 2018:
I don't shower daily as my skin dries out so dang fast, getting older sux. I wash my hair when I shower, days I don't shower I wet it down. It's short, fine, and curly like a poodle and sleeping on it makes it weird. I wet it and let it re curl or dry it straighter (it never gets totally straight without products and lots of work, no time for that). I do like occasional baths, usually with Epsom salts, essential oils and some moisturizing oils. They are very relaxing. I regret that I can't submerge both boobs and knees at the same time. But I have trouble staying in the tub for more than 10 minutes, I need something to do while I "relax".

HippieChick58 comments on Feb 27, 2018:
I have two problems with Tupperware. First is that it is plastic. Second is it lasts forever. I accumulated loads of Tupperware in my life, had many parties and went to many parties. Then I found out what toxins are in plastic and I have gotten rid of most of my plastic by donating to Goodwill and other places, and now use primarily glass. I do have to say that doing it online would be a heck of a lot easier than cleaning house and making treats.

My former husband was hit by a deer in semi rural Kansas so it is not limited to WV. Mom and dad died instantly, three traumatized kids in the back seat. Deer and highways are not a good mix anywhere. Just 3/4 mile from my house I saw a young deer on the side of the road.

First, congratulations on getting through. I hope you recover well. What to tell folks, that you are going to be grateful to the scientific and medical community for research and care.
Have you been successful in dating using this app/website?
HippieChick58 comments on Feb 25, 2018:
I have not had a date from this website. However, I may have met my soulmates. There are many on this site, all genders. I'm loving it!

Do you value life more ever since becoming nonreligious?
HippieChick58 comments on Feb 25, 2018:
I don't think I do, however I do value life more since I became a grandmother.
Name the one thing special about where you live
HippieChick58 comments on Feb 25, 2018:
Do you hate me? There is nothing about this area that anyone envies us for. Good things about Omaha and the area. Low cost of living. If you are a college football fan there are the Cornhuskers. If you like college baseball, the College World Series will be here shortly. There is a nationally rated zoo if you are into those. Hot summers and cold ass winters, but spring and fall are wonderful.
I have faith and believes in God but not in religion. Would that be possible?
HippieChick58 comments on Feb 25, 2018:
What I am hearing is that you believe there is a supreme being but that supreme being does not fit into any of the religions of the world that you are aware of. What does your supreme being expect of you?
How do you find that "special someone"
HippieChick58 comments on Feb 25, 2018:
I don't know, I thought I found him once. The reality was he lied too often and misrepresented himself. Had we gotten together I'd have had a basket case on my hands. When things were good they were really good, but when they went to hell it was awful. So, I am being true to me. I am looking, but I don't have high hopes. I'm happy with my company (or so I keep telling myself). I do what makes me happy and if the right man comes along he will have to fit into my life. There are some things I would be happy to change, but some things are non negotiable. I will always have cats. I will not move far from the kids. I am what I am and that is a stubborn liberal tree hugging Grammy, and damn proud of it.
Are you your own best friend ? How do you treat yourself as a person ?
HippieChick58 comments on Feb 25, 2018:
I take time to take care of me. Reading relaxes me, so I try to read before I go to sleep. Although my books are getting lots of competition from Agnostic.com. I listen to my gut, it is the first to tell me that something is wrong. I usually eat pretty healthy, and generally eat less meat and food as it comes from nature. I meditate from time to time. I try to advocate for me because no one else will.

January 13, 2021 My newest and smallest grandchild. She arrived 5 weeks early and is now 2.5 weeks old and is less than 7 pounds. I've never held such a small baby before. She is quite perfect and very amazing. I love being a Grammy.
