Do you buy bottled water? I have hot and cold running water at home, why do I need all that plastic?
HippieChick58 comments on Jun 28, 2018:
I have two 40 oz hydroflasks, stainless steel insulated bottles. One is for work, one for home. I never buy plastic bottles of water if I can help it. Ice stays frozen for nearly 48 hours. I just keep refilling them. My office put in drinking fountains with a spigot for bottles. We can refill cold water to our heart's content. I have numerous other water bottles. No plastic bottles in my house.

I've noticed what I consider an inordinate number of black cats here.
HippieChick58 comments on Jun 28, 2018:
I have never had a pure black cat. When I was looking for a cat after my old girl died I wanted a ginger, and found an adorable ginger. Then I wanted a companion for her, and one of my coworkers was fostering a kitten that needed a home as she had a vacation scheduled. Color didn't matter. I just like cats, someday I will have a solid black cat.
Works for me.

Better hurry! There are only 25 more shopping weeks to Christmas.
HippieChick58 comments on Jun 28, 2018:
I actually have started Christmas shopping! Oldest daughter had a baby 6 weeks or so ago. Last Thursday when I saw her she says, "do you remember Monkey Baby?" Well, yes I do. She tells me she wants me to find one for her son for Christmas. Monkey Baby was a stuffed monkey that had a pacifier. All the girls loved Monkey Baby. So, Queen of Google that I am I did my research and found Monkey Baby and it arrived yesterday. This is a Dakin stuffed toy that was made in 1985 and then discontinued. What we can accomplish with the internet!

I don't know if I can do this in order, but I was abused as a young child. My mom died when I was 14 and at 15 I got the step monster from hell. Joining the Army changed me in good ways, travel overseas and learning how other people live is life changing. Having children was life changing in so many ways. When my oldest got the the age I was when I was abused it freed me because I was then able to fully understand it wasn't my fault. I was too young to know anything and too young to have prevented it. That awakened the Mama Bear in me, I protect my cubs and it doesn't take much for someone to become my cub. And divorce changed me, I found out again how resilient I am.
My business travel has been chock full of adventure lately.

What's the worst gift you've ever had?
HippieChick58 comments on Jun 27, 2018:
My ex is a webmaster. He has a xian hymnal website. For mother's day 2008 he dedicated a hymn to me on his website. He used the music to an existing hymn, and wrote a poem to fit the music. There was nothing in the words about mothers or love or anything, it was an Easter hymn. Jaw hit floor. My kids were watching and I said "oh how nice." And Easter being in April, mother's day in May. I had asked for something for the garden and I got a god damned hymn because he couldn't even bother to shop or ask one of the girls to shop. It was dedicated to me on his website. In the divorce I asked for all mention of my name to be removed from the site. Worst gift ever.

Instead I push papers and deal with people dealing with the medical establishment. It's interesting to me, most of the time. My avocation is making stuff.
